an Olde Soul with a love of primitives
I have accompanied my mother to primitive shops and craft shows since I was very little, but never imagined I would one day be a primitive folk artist myself. With such an influence of primitives around me, I grew a very strong connection and appreciation with the simplicity of folk art. It's muted hues, worn appearance, and humble nature are what I love most.
My parents gave me a sewing machine when I was eleven, but had only tinkered with it a bit before teaching myself how to properly sew in my early twenties. I graduated from college and was in the process of applying to optometry school when I decided to open an Etsy shop and try my hand at creating primitives.
The opportunity was a blessing, as I have learned so much since the beginning, and am thankful beyond words for the support I have received! It’s become my career ~ something my younger self could have only imagined. I’ve now moved from Etsy to my own website which is such an amazing opportunity to continue to grow and discover what else the future has in store…
When I'm not behind my sewing machine, you'll find me in the kitchen trying new recipes, curled up with a thick book, or sketching out new designs for handmade goods.
My love of pigs has inspired my shop name, and as Charlotte wrote in her web, Wilbur the pig was ‘Humble' ~ something I cherish about pigs.
I hope you enjoy visiting my shop and find something you love.
Many thanks for stopping by!
